Your Corporate Event Checklist
A few things worth thinking about when planning your event - from someone who's been at a lot of them.
1
Get your brief right from the start
Before anything else, be clear on what the event needs to achieve. Is it about rewarding staff, impressing clients, launching a product, or simply letting your hair down? Everything flows from that.
2
Book your entertainment early
Olly gets booked up fast — particularly around the busy end-of-year party season. Lock in your entertainment as soon as the date is confirmed.
3
Know your audience
A corporate crowd is rarely one-size-fits-all. Think about the mix of people attending - departments, seniority levels, age ranges, and make sure your entertainment reflects that.
4
Think carefully about your running order
Drinks reception, dinner, speeches, awards, dancing, corporate events often have a lot of elements to juggle. A clear running order created with Olly’s help means the night flows seamlessly.
5
Don't neglect the drinks reception
The drinks reception sets the tone for the whole evening. Thoughtfully chosen background music makes a huge difference to the atmosphere the moment guests walk in.
6
Brief your host thoroughly
If you have speeches, awards, or announcements, Olly needs to know the details well in advance. He’ll check names, pronunciations, timings, and any sensitive areas to avoid. The more he knows, the more confident and polished the delivery.
7
Consider your venue's acoustics and layout
A large conference space and a boutique private dining room need very different approaches to sound. Olly always checks the venue specs ahead of time.
8
Communicate your music preferences
Think about what kind of atmosphere you want to create. Background ambience during dinner? A full dancefloor experience later in the night? Olly will then tailor every moment to the mood you're after.
9
Check the venue's restrictions
Many corporate venues have sound limiters, licensing curfews, or strict finishing times. Make sure these are flagged early so your entertainment can be planned accordingly. Olly will make sure there’s no nasty surprises on the night.
